Medical Checks for Children
Medical Checks for Children (MCC) is a Dutch based charity founded in November 2005 by the paediatrician and former intensivist, Ines von Rosenstiel. MCC focuses its efforts in preventative and curative areas. The medical focus is directed at the prevention of disease, protection from disease, treatment of disease, and promotion of good health. MCC offers medical care to children from 0-12 years of age in schools and orphanages.
MCC provides diagnosis and treatment. Areas of help are:
- Acute assistance (5-10% of MCC’s work load)
- Prevention of disease: early detection and treatment of, for example: worm infections, anaemia, malnutrition, and stunted growth.
- Promotion of health by giving advice on the value of sport, good nutrition, lifestyle and child rearing.
- Protection of good health by giving advice on nutrition and and good hygiene.
There are different organisations in the world that direct medical help for children. However, MCC is the only organisation that specifically targets children and their carers who have no access to medical help.
MCC’s vision of preventative and curative care is unique in this field. MCC believes that every child, along with intrinsic rights to life, love and freedom, also has the right to basic health care. MCC has medical missions in Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Kenya.
C.H.A.N.C.E for Nepal sponsors three medical missions per year all in Nepal.
