Today was my visit to Sneha’s Care, which Chance has supported for the past 5 years with funding 1000 rabies vaccinations a year. Rabies still kills many people. Sneha Shrestha, the founder is an incredible and dedicated lady and runs the centre with the help of 19 staff and a few volunteers. Today there were 158 dogs in the centre. All was quiet until Sangbo Lobsang, who accompanied me, opened the gate to be welcomed by all 158 dogs who came bounding towards us, barking and wagging their tails. Being a tad frightened of dogs, I first clung on Sangbo’s arm and then Sneha’s 🙏 feeling very brave! Once we were inside, they settled quickly and calmness ensued once more, during which I had the chance to talk to Sneha about her work.

Lastly, during my day at Triple Gem, I sat in on Class 8 as they enjoyed an extra curriculum glass on Biodiversity which has been implemented by Triple Gem School, the first school in Nepal to run this pilot programme. The organisation iLearnabout UK already has this programme running in schools in Africa with great success and Lama Kondan is keen to have the programme in his school.

Lama Kondan, the excellent headmaster, warmly greeted me and we discussed the various programmes Chance supports at the school. Our 7th school completed! This was all made possible by David Pinnington and his three sisters, Sue, Celia and Anne. After David's passing, we received a cheque for £10,000 which Dave had bequeathed to CHANCE. We wanted to use this wonderful donation in a special way and as a living tribute to David who liked to be known as Dave and who loved Nepal. What better way than a new school built by the brilliant organisation GMIN and their team, this being our 7th school funded with them.

SAVI, a fantastic organisation under the leadership of Dhruba Giri. SAVI run many projects empowering women who attend one of their training programmes, this might be weaving, vegetable farming and many others. They also help the local community by providing excellent cooking stoves which cut out smoke emissions which cause so many respiratory deceases in the home. They have their own school too, the Sapana Village School where 50% of the students come from the poorest neighbourhoods giving these children who would otherwise have no education, so a bleak future, the chance to learn and develop. I have witnessed this for myself and have watched the school go from strength to strength over the past 6 years ago. 🙏❤️ Do watch the delightful video.

CHANCE first visited the newly built Health Post in in the remote area Dhubichour in 2016 with Sangbo Lobsang (GMIN), one of our long standing partners on the ground in Nepal. For the first four years we funded a doctor, nurse and the medicines. In 2017 after a fund raising event we funded the construction of a further Health Post in Purandhara, both Health Posts are in the Dang region. We funded a nurse and the running costs for three years at the second Centre. Both have been incrediably valuable to the local communities, each helping around 2,500 families per year. Besides paying the salary of the nurse in Dhubichour we continue to provide medicines for both Health Posts. Thank you to our wonderful supporters of Chance, you make vital projects like this possible which continue to serve the communities. 🙏We would like to thank Chance for Nepal for funding 6 months nurse salary for our primary healthcare center in Dhubichour, Dang. We now have raised 8 months salary. We still need to raise funds for 4 more months salary to cover from mid july 2022 to mid july 2023. Please donate, share and support health in rural Nepal.
